Women's Meeting

Forgiveness was the theme at the women's meetings on Friday. Doris Stauffer spoke on finding forgiveness and was followed by Nora Sommers who taught on extending forgiveness. Lynette Showalter reflected on demonstrating forgiveness.

Taking our minds to the parable of the unforgiving debtor, Doris pointed out the mercy that was shown to the man who was unable to repay his debt. Likewise, we need to seek forgiveness for the gigantic debt of sin we owe. God doesn't force us to come to Him, He invites us. True forgiveness comes only through true repentance. Accepting God's forgiveness, we experience a cleansing and can now bathe in God's spiritual light. Taking inventory of our activities and asking God to show us if we have wronged someone is necessary to maintain harmony in relationships. As Nora stated, "Unforgiveness within one's heart not only breaks the relationship with the one who hurt us, but it also blocks our relationship with God." Sharing a number of stories demonstrating forgiveness, Lynette challenged us to look at the words we speak and our actions toward others. How forgiving is our forgiveness? As Christ-like women, how do we and how should we demonstrate forgiveness?
