Workbook

Overview

This study is designed for those who have already committed their life to Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.

The main theme of this study is centered around the idea of “Knowing and Doing the Will of God” and can be summed up in the following quote taken from the introduction of the book. “Knowing God does not come through a program, a study, or a method. Knowing God comes through a relationship with a Person. This is an intimate love relationship with God. Through this relationship, God reveals Himself, His purposes, and His ways; and He invites you to join Him where He is already at work.”

The structure of the book is centered on what the author, Henry Blackaby, calls the “Seven Realities of Experiencing God.”

God is always at work around you.
God pursues a continuing love relationship with you that is real and personal.
God invites you to become involved with Him in His work.
God speaks by the Holy Spirit through the Bible, prayer, circumstances, and the church to reveal Himself, His purposes, and His ways.
God’s invitation for you to work with Him always leads you to a crisis of belief that requires faith and action.
You must make major adjustments in your life to join God in what He is doing.
You come to know God by experience as you obey Him and He accomplishes His work through you.

Strengths

1. Experiencing God shows these truths:

God desires to have a relationship with you and I that is real and personal.
God does speak to us in various ways which align with His written Word.
God is at work all around us and we need to be attentive to Him to see His work.
Joining God in what he is doing will require adjustments in our lives.

2. The material does not promote theology that is at variance with Rosedale Network theology and practice.

Weaknesses/Challenges

Students of this course might come to the conclusion that…

1. God always gives us definitive answers to our every situation.

2. If you do not know God’s will, there must be something in the way of your relationship with Him.
